At
present this FAQ is for existing users of the Legacy UK Will Writer
program
Q.
Do I have to upgrade?
A.
We hope you'll find the increased productivity from the Legacy Document System
more than pays its way. But we'll continue to offer renewals for the Legacy
UK Will Writer as long as there is a demand however, there will be no
further revisions of this or sales to new users.
Q.
Can I run both programs together?
A.
Yes, it's recommended while you get used to the new way of working. Your client
.wil files from Legacy UK Will Writer can be imported and saved in the new
system.
Q.
Are my Professional Modules included in the upgrade?
A.
Yes any you've purchased for the old system will be included. If you
only have the main Will Writer part, additional modules can be added as before.
Q.
Is the Legacy Documents System easy to use?
A.
Absolutely! We've redesigned the software from the ground up to incorporate
the features everyone (including us) has wanted for a long time. Key improvements
include:
-
No re-typing of names & addresses.
All appointments and beneficiaries are stored
in the program and can be inserted anywhere else in the instructions
with a single key
-
All relationships selected from dropdown
lists
-
No limits to the number of guardians, children,
beneficiaries, legacies, attorneys, etc. Forms
expand to insert any number required
-
Main structure of distribution of residue
set up with a few click choices
-
Instant previews of the formatted output
for all document types
Q.
Do I have to use the built-in Word Processor?
A.
No. The documents are generated fully formatted in the word
processor window ready for final editing and printing (they can also be
saved as separate documents in the program). However, you may wish to use this
as just a preview the copy command allows you to use any word processor
of your choice (and existing macros) as before.
Q.
What kind of computer do I need?
A.
Any computer comfortably running Windows 98 or later should be fine. The more
memory you have the better 32MB is an absolute minimum but aim at 128MB
particularly for laptops [current cost is about
£17.50].
The
Legacy Document System uses the XML features of Internet Explorer 6. Unless
you have recently upgraded your web browser or have just bought a Windows XP
machine, you will need to install this with our program the IE6 setup
is supplied on our CD.
Q.
When does my licence period start and end?
A.
365 days from the time it's installed. So if you have only recently renewed
your Legacy UK Will Writer, you can order the upgrade at the special offer
price and wait until the old program expires before installing. (However, we'd
be surprised if you didn't think the small extra cost wasn't worth it to try
the new system straight away the choice is yours!)
Q.
Can I arrange to renew my licence automatically?
A.
Yes complete and return the standing order form we'll send with the
new software. You will receive your renewal software about two weeks before
your current licence expires.
Q.
Has there been a price increase for the licence renewal?
A.
Yes we have made it a fixed fee of £35.25 for all versions of
our programs. Our last increase was in 1995. We now plan to adjust the licence
cost each year in line with inflation but the present rate can be fixed
for five years if you set up a standing order.
Q.
How do I use your document processing service?
A.
We'll set up a record for your trading name and address plus bank account number
and sort code. To submit an order simply send an e-mail and attach the
client instruction file from the Legacy Document System.
Our
processing company, Legacy Partners Ltd, operates a state-of-the-art management
system with many cases completed within 24 hours and any commission due being
paid directly into your bank account each week. Please ask for an application
form if you wish to use this service.
Q.
Can I install the new program on more than one PC?
A.
Yes. Even though we are issuing a single user licence you may install on two
computers e.g. for home & work or desktop & laptop. However we have
introduced a new registration system and you will need to call us when you
are ready to do the second installation.
Q.
How does the new registration system work?
A.
The full installation is activated for one particular computer (make sure it's
on the machine you intend to work on). After installation the program can be
used only five times before you need the full registration code telephone
us during office hours or apply on this web site.
Q.
What happens if I change machines or my hard disk crashes?
A.
No problem part of the joys of computing! We'll issue new codes to get
you up and running again as soon as possible.
Q.
How do I benefit from this new registration process?
A.
(a) You can let friends try your copy of the program without us losing a properly
authorised customer. Increasing our licensed users enables us to invest
more in ongoing development effectively this allows us to keep our prices
down for the benefit of all registered users.
(b)
We can control who uses our software. There has been some very bad press
recently about a few rogue Will Writing firms. A small minority are jeopardizing
the business for the vast majority of us who are conscientiously trying to
provide an excellent service for our clients. In the absence of any effective
regulation or enforcement we intend to use our position as the leading software
supplier to prevent known fraudsters from using our programs.
Q.
What feedback do you need from early upgraders?
A.
There may be some errors in the documents generated many of these you
can correct yourself by customising the clauses but we'd still like
to know about them to correct for later versions. Please e-mail all errors
and problems you come across to report@legacydocuments.com. Also visit www.legacydocuments.com/forum
to directly enter your message.
Q.
Are there any training courses available?
A.
Yes we ran five very successful courses in 2001. The emphasis was very much
on marketing and increasing order values through proper estate planning packages.
Training courses include our separate presentation software which has proved
to be highly effective for reviewing clients' circumstances optimising
the package of services and products ordered.
Dates
are not yet fixed for courses in 2002 but places will be limited. Please let
us know if you would like to attend so that you are given first choice when
the new schedule is available.
